New York City

Dinner, a show, a walk, whatever then an overnight stay in a fancy hotel with all the trimmings. It’s OK to dream….

Weekend Review

Whew!

I am so glad I survived the weekend. It was sketchy there for a minute or two!

myhero1

I stole this from Strelitzia, Arrrg!

Friday began slow but around noon I decided to get off the couch and fix the tub faucet and folks it was all downhill from there. Don’t believe e-How for  a minute when they tell you how simple fixing your leak will be. I started at noon and two trips to the hardware store and three pizzas later (no I shared the pizzas) it was six o’clock and the leak was fixed. Oh and all the water that had run from the second floor to the basement was sopped up. Then Saturday morning I discovered that the dehumidifier was toast and all those wet walls and such were drying at a snails pace so that had to be torn apart and replaced.  Add this to the broken recliner and we have ourselves a set of three’s. Did you ever notice that things happen in threes? They do.

There is a bright side. The mercury got all  the way up to the fifties this weekend. I about went into shock! So we threatened the kids, well at least the older ones, that they were going to be lazy good for nothing lumps if they didn’t get their shoes on and off we went to the lake to catch some fish. Here is where I toot my own horn. I was the only one to catch a fish. And I did it all by my self, from hooking it to landing it to slipping it back into the water. Usually hubby is on the side lines coaching me on what to do but not this time, I had it all under control!

So how was your weekend?

*You know you only have a few days to enter the contest right!?

A Must See

sexy-beasts

I found another site I just love.

I would love to meet the creator. He weaves a story of a lady at a bus stop and how he fantasizes a conversation with her only to have her actually speak to him and go no where.

He thinks a lot like me and I have to wonder sometimes if we all don’t think that way, we’re just to scared to show it.

I once heard that on average humans think of sex at least four times in an hour. I often wonder who does these tests and what purpose they serve. There must be a reason we need to know these things.

Maybe we are bored?

Well then click the link and go exploring, you won’t be bored anymore.

Ice here and ice there,
ice ice everywhere.
Melt away and don’t come back
cut a girl a little slack.

It sucks out there, and I have to go out in it. If you never hear from me again I’ve slid off the edge of a cliff and died a fiery death. Why not go out with a bang?

Hobbies

I have made a career of hobbies in the most half assed ways one could do so. I dabble here and dabble there and in the end I hardly ever end up with a complete project. If it’s finished, I must have really liked it. If it’s not finished then I’m thinking real hard about it, good things take time.

I took up the art of crochet recently for about a day. I always scoffed at ladies who claimed to do it, “Oh that seems so boring, I don’t think I could handle it!” Well let me tell you, I don’t think I have ever truly had to eat my words worse than the day I realized with crushing clarity that I haven’t an f’n clue how to crochet. And I considered picking up knitting! I fell in love with a pattern for a dishtowel, it’s a square for the love of yarn how hard could it be?!  I conferred with mom and she taught me the language, yes there is a special code. And she showed me a stitch or two and then she left. She left me alone with my hook and yarn and I failed miserably. In the end I discovered through the the Information Superhighway that indeed she taught me how to DC in the 3rd CH all wrong.

I think I’ll stick to embroidery. Much more chance to liven things up with a little color than some boring old yarn. But I’ll hand it to you knitters out there, I’ll never be in your knitter circle I can promise you that!

~I am going to have a first ever give away soon! So sit up straight, all three of you! We’re about to have us some company!

Secrets and Mysteries

Around here I share way too much of myself. So I am going to show you where I go to see others share way too much of themselves, even if they do not know it.

There are actually only two places and I do believe I told you about this one before. Post Secret It amazes me the amount of people that feel like they need to share a little bit of themselves with the whole world. It’s like Secret Keepers Anonymous, “Stand up and tell us your secret.” Honestly there are lots of secrets on there that might as well be mine. Like this one…

But what is truly remarkable is that some of the people that send in their secrets say that Post Secret has saved their life. Maybe they like to think that, possibly something else would have come along to save it instead.  I enjoy reading the secrets every Sunday and I always keep in mind it may be fun to admit something there sometime, we all have a secret.

Then there is FOUND. This site is entirely made up of people who find notes on the ground, in bus terminals, library books and so on and then they get posted here.

I got a kick out of this one because it’s signed by me.

Awesome-O

It gives you something to do when waiting in the doctor office or standing in line at the Big Starbucks, find the gem of the day. I haven’t found anything in years but there was a time I got out more and I would find little tid bits of others lives and in the trash they usually went. Because what else would I have done with it?

Where of interest do you spend a little of your time?

The Post That Didn’t Have a Title Till Now

I know I did it again. I stepped out for a minute and come back and nothing is the same, yet it is. Didn’t ‘word’ just redo their formats and crap just last year? I was just getting to know you and now I don’t even know how to write a post.

*sigh*

My brain has been trained into some kind of short circuited loop. I start to write an email, a post, hell just three words in the search bar and I am redirected to the beckoning of a four year old. I get back on track , I’m almost there, and he is telling me he wants the latest thing on T.V., he needs a drink, he’s hungry, he wants to make cookies. And when he runs out of the regular things to say it turns into an endless bantering of “Watch me stand on my head for the one gazillionth time this week!” Or, “Do you remember that time we ate in that place where that guy had that thing?” He makes my head hurt sometimes. I’m going to miss him so much next year but I sure do pity his teacher.

Do you ever have more to do than you have time to do it? And it’s all very important but you know that unless you stay up all night long for the next week and chug gallons of hi test coffee there just won’t be enough time to get it done? How you look at the clock and think first that you have all afternoon and then second that it’s just not enough? It makes me want to sit down and read a book. Kind of a “If I can’t get it done then why do it at all’ attitude.

Add the two together and it takes an eternity to do anything. I started the dishes around noon and I just finished the last pan. It wasn’t anything too incredibly huge, just your average dirty mess from breakfast and endless snacks and a couple pans from the night before. This is where the ADD kicks in. One minute I’m shoveling toys off the floor and dragging mountains of laundry to the basement and then suddenly I straighten my back and stretch out my neck and realize I was supposed to be doing the dishes. So I stroll to the kitchen and dive back in only to realize that the water no longer has bubble and it’s cool enough to drink. So I had to draw more water and before I know it I’m upstairs for the fourth time helping Mr. Spill Something on my Pants Again find a clean pair. And that leads to sitting here rattling on letting you know that I am alive in a very round about way.

I have to go to the store now.
