What a day.

I did a complete overhaul of the living room. I’ve been eyeing up the outdated, rather large entertainment center for months and last week I called the trash men and said, “It will be on the curb next week, take or pay boys.” And so there it is, waiting. I’m so happy. Then I had to clean up the ferret’s mess she left in my bedroom. Month’s ago I decided the only safe place in this house to put a few plants would be atop my dresser and some how she found them AND reached them AND dug them up all over the place. I was so upset I couldn’t even be angry. It took an hour to clean it up and sweep. Meanwhile all day there were six little people running about having a blast being that my attention was diverted and all. At eight o’clock I attempted to traverse across a certain bedroom only to find that I would need a jet pack to get to the dresser. Oh my, another room that needed “straightened”. At midnight I was eating eggs, bacon and toast. The only legit meal I had all day. Do you hear that? I think it’s violins.

So after the eggs settled and the violins played I hopped on the super highway of information and three hours later had discovered that my Great-Grandmother died at twenty eight (this I knew) of Typhoid Fever. (didn’t know that part) She suffered from July 5th to August 9th. That’s interesting huh? I’ve dabbled in that family line before, I always get stuck at the same spot but I often times learn something new. However, it seems that my Grandfather’s line came up tonight with out holding back. I never could get anywhere with him, it’s like that name has been purposely left off of every record every transcribed. But not tonight.  Come to find out that my Great-Grandfather brought his roots here in 1873. He was a little late to the party really. But his whole line of peep’s can be traced back in Scotland to 1752. Awesome, I’m a little Scotty.

Another interesting little tid bit is that one of my relatives in the tree had a name of Jno. How do you even say that? Where does a name like that come from? It doesn’t seem to be a mistake either. Odd.

I must get to bed now, I just wanted to tell someone I’m most certainly from the Scots. Nite!

Mind telling me more about this little guy? I know a certain blogger that just might have some information! I also know a blogger that didn’t stick around long to see it because he is running away squealing like a little girl.

Just tell me he’s not gonna hurt me and I’ll let him live.

The spider, not the blogger.

Thanx!

Last Monday I was given a free ticket to the showdown of this fire and it’s trailer sidekick. The story behind this firetrap is that the previous residents didn’t pay their rent and were forced to abandon ship. Once it was empty it was hauled out of it’s “spot” and deposited here. At the end of my road. I was less than pleased that anyone coming to visit me would see this heap of metal plopped carelessly in the grass. It was just wrong. So I left it go for almost a year till I finally asked a few questions. It seems that the owner was going to fix it up and sell it but meanwhile was renting the previous spot to another lucky inhabitant. That’s about when I started praying for lightening to strike. Now almost two years later some kids somehow managed to lite it up and my prayers were answered. I had front row seats. Bye bye hunk o’ junk!

I’m not ashamed to admit that when the horn sounded signaling that the giant bucket of water was about to dump I ran for a great spot. I still haven’t quite figured out what is so great about having a HUGE bucket of cold water dumped upon yourself but I must have done it at least half a dozen times. For the kid’s sake, you know? As I stood in line a few times to ride this or that I tried to figure out many things. First I wanted to know what is so exciting about standing in line for twenty minutes or more to do something that rarely lasted longer than five minutes. What is it about humans that we like to be shaken, spun and scared? Who in the world ever thought that you could make mountains of money this way? Why am I here? The next day my feet hurt, my shins hurt and I am still tired. Yet the kid’s keep asking when we will go back. Not to mention my pocket is way lighter. Let me tell you about our first meal there. It consisted of

  • two orders of chicken strips
  • one bacon cheeseburger with fries and a medium soda
  • one $7.00 refillable for .99 soda

all for the bargin of $33.00.

The older two got

  • two bottles of water
  • two personal pan pizzas

for $18.00.

It ain’t cheap but it was worth it this one time.

And there you have it folks. The End

Starting over will always kind of suck you know. When I was….twenty something, I honestly forget and I’m too lazy to do the math, I had to start over. With two kids at that. I had nothing but the odd crap I could collect the day I moved my things. It took two loads in a little S-10 with a trailer hitched to it. You can’t move much with that kind of space but that was all I had. I had no where to go but “home”, my car was falling apart and uninsured and I was in the process of losing my job. It was one of the best decisions I ever made in my life to start over again, but it sure did suck.

So the decision to start anew with a blog should be cake, but it really isn’t. You kind of  get to like the creative name you pick and having what feels like equity in it. Three hundred some odd posts, a thousand or so comments, a handful of the “usual” readers, it feels homey. It’s all yours, you are settled in, and then one day it must die and you must start all over. It sucks.

I thought really hard about what I wanted to do. Should I let nature take it’s course, keep the blog and rock on shamelessly? Should I just give up? I considered it has been literally impossible to write posts since school let out, but that won’t last forever. I kind of liked the break but I missed it all the same. I considered creating a new blog that was family friendly, where I could be all out there in my own gaurded way but I knew that wasn’t me. I’ll be the first to admit I hate putting it all out there to the fam. I like being a little secretive sometimes. So here it is, the rough copy of Sticky Door Knobs. My life is full of them. I’ve decided to keep it free of human pictures but I will throw a few odds and ends in here and there. I may introduce a strictly picture blog on the side later on, you know, when school is in session again. 😉 I’m gonna keep it real, but private if that is at all possible. So starting over is tough to do sometimes, but in the end if you keep a positive outlook, it can be a good thing. An improvement even. I can use all the improvement out there!

Happy Birthday Little Guy

My littlest is four today. Four years ago I delivered him in a tub of water. I literally reached down and pulled him to the surface before he was severed from me forever. He was the crankiest of five kids. I always said if he would have been the first he would have been the last.

I love you so much little man. I wish you would stay four forever, I really do.
